Don Layson
President
"Chief Cook & Bottle Washer", aka President of Calrose insurance. Don began his career in the insurance industry in 1985 as an agent for an organization that gave him experience in both personal & commercial lines of insurance. As a managing partner, he wrote small person accounts and large multi-location commercial accounts. Don purchased Driver's World Insurance in 2012 which became Calrose Insurance in 2018. In Don's free time his priorities are his faith, family and music. He and his son share a enthusiasm for the guitar and have each built their own instruments. When he is not playing in his worship band at church, you will find him on his tractor working on a "honey-do list", watching "scary movies" with his daughter, or "exercising self control" on the golf course. When on vacation you will find Don in Hawaii, he got hooked on his honeymoon.
I have been in the insurance industry since 1997 and became a licensed agent in 1998. I’m here to help people make good decisions about insurance and help them understand coverages.
When I’m not working I like to reading, walking (even in the rain) and hanging out with my family. Visiting my sister in Arizona is the best!
I'm here to help people make good decisions. Especially when it comes to insurance I have an advantage coming from a long line of insurance professionals going as far back as my great grandfather. I want to use that background and my continual pursuit of learning to help people deal with a product, service, and industry that's often misunderstood.
A little bit about myself I love music, coffee, video games, and working out. Me and my wife recently moved Marysville with our dog Hazel. I'm happy to talk to anyone about almost anything so send me an email and let's grab coffee.
Sue began working in the insurance industry as a CSR in 1967. In 1971 the agency where she was working merged with Insurance of Everett and retained that agency name. In 1983 she obtained her insurance license so that she could continue working as a licensed CSR and Agent. Later that year the opportunity presented itself to Sue to become part of owner of the Insurance Center of Everett. Sue took that opportunity. In June 2016 Insurance Center was sold to Calrose Insurance and Sue stayed on as Agent/CSR. Sue's volunteer work includes things such as previous secretary for the Insurance Women of Puget Sound, Secretary for Lake Stevens Jaycees as well as a volunteering for activities for the Lake Stevens Police Dept. She was always very involved in her children's activities as they were growing up acting as a Camp Fire Leader, treasure for her daughter's drills team and volunteering for various jobs for Little League. When Sue is not working you will finding her staying fit by walking, and gardening. She spent her last vacation visiting her daughter and grandchildren in NV.
Ashley began her insurance career in 2012 working for a local Allstate agency in all personal insurance. In July of 2019 she joined Calrose to be a little closer to home and we're happy she did. Her approach to educating clients on a one-on-one basis fits perfectly with our values. When she's not working she's outside! Momming a couple of fur babies, making things grow in the garden, hiking and camping whenever the whether permits are all Ashley's favorite past times.
Debbie started out working for her dad at his insurance office when she was 16, filing, typing addresses on envelopes and answering the phone on Saturdays. Insurance is in her family DNA. After graduating she worked in the dental industry for most of her working years. When kids arrived, she stayed home to be with them and homeschooled.
When Calrose Insurance grew her husband Don, brought her back to work. Now she's doing similar things she did when she was 16, managing forms, mailings, updating licenses, data entry, and working with companies on the administration of the business. She enjoys watching her husband and son work together and learn from each other.
In the off hours much of her time is still spent outside, working in the yard, improving their home, reading, and spending time with family.
Elizabeth began her insurance career in 1977 with an agency in Spokane, WA. She became a licensed agent in 2000, working for an agency in Monroe, WA until October 2015. At that time Elizabeth joined Calrose Insurance as the social media & communications director along with the responsibility of a Licensed Agent. January 2021 Elizabeth took off her “social media hat” and became a full time licensed agent. In her free time when she is not being “mom” to her Jack Russell terriers, you will find her in her kitchen creating her soon to be released cookbook, as well as on the trail with her husband and dogs.
MaryJo began her insurance career in 2002 starting as a receptionist but soon got licensed and started specializing in non-standard auto insurance. In 2018 she came to Calrose to grow as a professional, moving to commercial insurance is loving it. When she isn't working up certificates and drinking iced coffee, she's playing darts and shopping with friends and family. Her and her husband love visiting Vegas, almost every year without fail always coming back to their daughter and dog Gizmo. MaryJo is always on the lookout for the next fun glittery cup or purse.
